Job summary

Quanex in Wahpeton, ND is seeking a Tooling Technician to prepare and maintain tooling for production runs. On-site role focusing on precision, quality, and efficiency to meet customer specifications.

You will work with calipers, dial indicators, and other tooling tools, lead small improvements, and uphold 5S standards while collaborating with the production team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 3+ years manufacturing experience preferred.
• AutoCAD experience preferred.
• Experience with calipers, dial indicators, rulers, squares.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety-focused culture and 5S practices.
• Coordinate and lead the tooling improvements within the department.
• Prepare and assemble tooling for upcoming production runs.
• Understand machine operations to determine how a customer product should be made.

Quanex is looking for a Tooling Technician – to join our team located onsite in Wahpeton, North Dakota.

Put your technical expertise to work where precision matters. As a key member of our team, you'll prepare and maintain the tooling needed to manufacture high-quality products that meet our customers' exact requirements. Your work will directly support production efficiency, product quality, and customer satisfaction.

Salary:

$21.00 to $27.00 per hour, starting wage varies based on your experience

Work Hours:

Monday - Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Friday 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., overtime as business requires.

What Success Looks Like

• Leads and promotes a culture of safety first.
• Must be qualified to coordinate and lead the implementation of improvements within their department.
• Maintains regular 5S principles.
• Understands quality expectations and works with all team members to ensure quality procedures are being followed and standard work is being followed.
• Prepares and assembles all tooling for upcoming production runs prior to the time when they are needed, including back-up tooling when necessary.
• Maintains a working knowledge of machine operations in order to determine how a customer product should be made.
• Cooperates with and supports co-workers and gets involved as a team player.

Your Credentials

• High School education or equivalent required
• 3+ years’ manufacturing experience, preferred
• Auto Cad experience, preferred
• Experience with calipers, dial indicators, protectors, squares, rulers, etc.
