Job summary

Accelera in Farmington, CT, is seeking a Tooling Technician to maintain, repair, and fabricate high-precision tooling supporting manufacturing operations.

You will apply metal stamping and tool design expertise to improve productivity, quality, and cost efficiency, mentoring apprentices and collaborating with engineering to integrate new tooling into production.

Qualifications

• Journeyman certification or 5+ years of equivalent experience in tool and die making.
• Proven expertise in progressive stamping and precision tooling fabrication.
• Advanced ability to interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T specifications.
• Proficiency in operating shop equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, and manual machining tools.
• Strong understanding of quality control systems, including SPC and ISO standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform essential maintenance and troubleshooting on production tooling to minimize downtime and ensure operational readiness.
• Fabricate custom components, fixtures, and gauges to support evolving production requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate new tooling into production workflows seamlessly.
• Document tool history and setup procedures to maintain accurate technical records and improve future processes.
• Mentor apprentices and provide technical guidance to production staff to resolve tooling-related challenges.
• Assist in the standardization of tooling inventory to streamline maintenance and reduce operational costs.
• Support Lean manufacturing projects by identifying opportunities to improve throughput and reduce waste.
• Maintain a safe and organized workspace while adhering to all environmental and quality compliance standards.
