Job summary

Three D Metals, Inc. is seeking a Tooling Specialist to support production by managing tooling inventories, sourcing replacements, and evaluating quotes for new tools.

The role requires basic CAD drafting for tooling, setup documentation, and collaboration with Engineering to confirm part manufacturability before release.

Candidates should have hands-on tooling experience, strong organization, and a commitment to safe, efficient, and repeatable manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of punch tooling, press brake tooling, and machining cutting tools.
• Ability to read part drawings, tolerances, and setup sheets.
• Basic CAD drafting capability for tooling, fixtures, and simple part drawings.
• Experience managing tooling inventories and using ERP/MRP systems.
• Ability to obtain supplier quotations and compare lead times.
• Hands-on ability to assemble and stage tooling for production use.
• Strong problem-solving and safety-minded approach.

Responsibilities

• Tooling ownership and maintenance to ensure tooling is identified, organized, and available.
• Inventory management, audits, and reorder point monitoring.
• Source replacement tooling and coordinate vendor quotes and deliveries.
• Develop quotations for punches, dies, and fixtures; document costs and lead times.
• Offline tooling setup and staging for safe production changeovers.
• Assess manufacturability and determine tooling needs for quotes.
• Basic CAD drafting for tooling drawings and setup documentation.
• Support production with tooling selection, installation, and troubleshooting.
• Maintain records of tooling lists, inspections, and vendor information.
