Job summary

G&W Electric is seeking a Tooling Manager in Bolingbrook, IL to lead Advanced Tooling Engineering and Toolroom activities, drive tooling improvements, and sustain world-class molding processes. You will mentor engineers, manage schedules, and collaborate across departments to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics.

You will work with tool design engineers, stay responsible for tooling maintenance, and coordinate with NPD for manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor in Mechanical/Industrial/Chemical/Plastics/Polymer Processing/Materials or equivalent experience in Tooling and Mold Development.
• Prior experience in Tooling Engineering and Toolroom management.
• Must possess skills to use 3D Drafting Software; experience running simulation software and concepts of material flow, cure and characterizing material for feeding simulation software.
• Strong problem-solving skills with experience using root cause analysis techniques.
• Ability to mentor, motivate and develop subordinates.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Tooling Engineering and Toolroom operations and projects to improve safety, quality, delivery and cost metrics.
• Lead Tooling Engineers to support mold designs, machines, manual and automated operations and new product development.
• Define and manage tooling improvement projects and ensure tool delivery to specifications within deadlines.
• Maintain revision control and data management for all designs (existing and new).
• Drive cost-reduction initiatives through Advanced Tooling and COQ-related projects.
• Create sustainable processing methods and pursue mistake-proofing with creativity.
• Maintain tool/gaging specifications and operations fixtures; ensure manufacturability with NPD team.
