Job summary

Saab West Lafayette is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for the 3rd shift to ensure tooling is available and optimized for aircraft assembly. You will work between the tooling engineer and production, driving improvements and ensuring safety and compliance.

Responsibilities include tooling audits, studies, performance testing, issue resolution, and supporting new tooling capital projects. A strong focus on quality, GD&T and measurements is required.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in STEM or 2+ years related experience required.
• 2+ years of aircraft manufacturing/assembly experience desirable.
• Tooling selection and application experience in manufacturing setting.
• Basic tooling design knowledge.
• Troubleshooting tooling issues with countermeasures.
• Proficiency with computer reporting and Excel.
• CAD software experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Audit and maintain proper tools within each assembly area.
• Provide support for tooling studies and application.
• Conduct performance testing for tooling and provide technical analysis reports.
• Investigate and resolve tooling issues.
• Propose new tooling designs and contribute to capital projects.
• Assist assemblers with proper and safe use of tools.
• Ensure tooling compliance to aerospace standards.
