Job summary

MiniMed in Juncos, Puerto Rico is seeking a Tooling Engineer to design and develop tooling, fixtures, gauges, and other manufacturing solutions for production and NPI. You will create 3D CAD models, drawings, and BOMs, and collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Technical teams to deliver reliable tooling that supports ramp-up and process improvements.

Ideal candidates have a background in mechanical tooling design, 3D CAD proficiency, and knowledge of GD&T.

Qualifications

• Requires Engineering Bachelor Degree.
• Minimum of 2 years relevant experience, OR Master's degree with a minimum of 0 years relevant experience.
• Experience designing manufacturing tooling, fixtures, jigs, gauges, machine attachments, or related manufacturing equipment.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software and development of detailed engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement tooling, fixtures, jigs, gauges, machine attachments, prototypes, and other manufacturing solutions for production and experimental use.
• Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and other technical documentation required for fabrication and implementation.
• Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, material selection, and mechanical design principles to ensure tooling meets functional, dimensional, safety, and manufacturing requirements.
• Conduct and participate in Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM/DFA) reviews with technical stakeholders.
• Support tooling requirements for new product introduction, validation and qualification activities, capacity expansion, production ramp-up, and sustaining manufacturing.
• Collaborate directly with Machinists and Toolmakers during fabrication, assembly, and implementation to resolve technical and manufacturability issues and ensure successful fit and function.
