Job summary

MiniMed is seeking an engineer to design and develop tooling, fixtures, jigs, and gauges at the Juncos, Puerto Rico Innovation Center. You will collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Technical teams to deliver safe, reliable tooling solutions that strengthen manufacturing capabilities.

The role emphasizes 3D CAD modeling, GD&T, design for manufacturability, and support for NPI, qualification activities, capacity expansion, and ramp-up of production.

Qualifications

• Requires Engineering Bachelor Degree
• Requires minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, OR Master’s degree with a minimum of 0 years relevant experience.
• Experience designing manufacturing tooling, fixtures, jigs, gauges, machine attachments, or related manufacturing equipment.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software and development of detailed engineering drawings.
• Working knowledge of GD&T, ASME Y14.5 principles, tolerance analysis, and dimensional stack-ups.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement tooling, fixtures, jigs, gauges, machine attachments, prototypes, and other manufacturing solutions for production and experimental use.
• Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and other technical documentation required for fabrication and implementation.
• Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, material selection, and mechanical design principles to ensure tooling meets functional, dimensional, safety, and manufacturing requirements.
• Conduct and participate in Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM/DFA) reviews with technical stakeholders.
• Support tooling requirements for new product introduction, validation and qualification activities, capacity expansion, production ramp-up, and sustaining manufacturing.
