Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Tooling Engineer - Energetics Manufacturing (Level 2 or 3) for the Elkton, Maryland operations. The role focuses on engineering and design of tooling components for energetic aerospace propulsion systems, including molds and fixtures, with collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.

Responsibilities include coordinating tooling requirements, managing fabrication with shops and vendors, tooling checkout, and cost estimations for proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 2+ years of design experience; MS with 0 years acceptable.
• Ability to obtain Secret Clearance and US citizenship is a prerequisite.
• Strong communication and team-work skills in a product-team setting.
• Familiarity with machine shop fabrication practices and material selection.
• Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5M) and basic stress calculations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate tooling requirements with project engineering, process engineering, manufacturing and quality teams.
• Coordinate tooling fabrication with machine shop and vendors, defining scope and tracking against plan.
• Oversee tool use, checkout and follow-up in production.
• Prepare estimates of tooling design and fabrication costs for proposals.
• Identify opportunities for improvements to existing designs.
