Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Clearfield, Utah, is seeking a Tool and Die Making Manager 2 – Metrology/Tool Maintenance to lead a diverse team of metrology specialists and tooling professionals across programs. You will develop technical statements of work and drive cross‑functional training to support production transitions.

This role demands strong leadership, experience in metrology, tooling, and shop scheduling, plus a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related professional/military experience in manufacturing/aerospace/design/tooling/tool engineering, manufacturing engineering, integration and/or fabrication industries/experience, or a master’s degree with 3 years of related professional/military experience.
Must have 2 years of prior management/leadership experience.
Must be available to manage across shifts.
Must have an active U.S. Government Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.

Responsibilities

Lead a group of 15 to 25 hourly non‑exempt employees, metrology engineers, and/or level 1 managers.
Manage and coordinate metrology activities across programs to ensure appropriate staffing/de‑staffing actions are developed and executed.
Own responsibility for program and technical performance while providing objective-oriented directions to hard lined or dotted line reporting personnel, utilizing management guidelines & general policies.
Monitor and manage risk items to ensure mitigating actions are effective and timely.
Promote Lean, Knowledge Management, and other process improvement initiatives as well as sharing of lessons learned and best practices throughout the organization.
Manage the following: personnel performance evaluation, merit planning, employee development and training, succession planning, and utilization of EVMS to manage direct costs.
