Job summary

Xyant Technology in Franklin Park, IL is seeking a skilled die maker responsible for daily repair, maintenance, and modification of progressive dies to meet design specs and customer requirements. You will troubleshoot press and die issues, machine replacement components, and safely operate tool room machinery while reading blueprints and CAD drawings to guide fabrication.

This full-time, on-site role requires 5+ years of toolmaking experience and the ability to stand, walk, climb, and lift up

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or TMA certificate.
• 5+ years of related experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and CAD drawings.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and work in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Build and repair progressive dies following strict design and blueprint guidelines.
• Modify existing tooling to adapt to changing customer requests and engineering requirements.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose complex press and die performance issues on the floor.
• Execute tooling changeovers efficiently across multi-part production tooling systems.
• Operate machine tools including drills, lathes, grinders, and milling machines to fabricate components.
• Conduct test runs on completed tools and dies to check for smoothness, defects, and contours.
• Maintain safety standards while working near moving parts in a loud, industrial environment.

Position Summary:

• This role ensures smooth plant operations by troubleshooting press and die issues, machining replacement components, and safely operating tool room machinery.

• Troubleshoot and diagnose complex press and die performance issues on the floor.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive understanding of proper die-build procedures, punch press equipment, and metal forming processes.
• Proficient in using precision measuring instruments like calipers and micrometers, alongside standard tool room machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, CAD drawings, and procedural manuals.
• Strong grasp of basic algebra, geometry, fractions, and decimals for precise measurements.
• High school diploma/GED with 5+ years of related experience preferred, or a TMA certificate.
• Physical Demands: Capacity to stand, walk, climb, and occasionally lift or move more than 80 pounds.
