Job summary

ACEMCO Incorporated in Spring Lake, MI is seeking a skilled tool and die technician to troubleshoot, repair, and assemble dies, jigs, gauges, and related tooling in a fast-paced automotive environment. You will read blueprints and GD&T, verify dimensions with precision measuring tools, and work both independently and as part of a team to maintain tooling and production quality.

• Four-years’ experience with approved trade school.
• Must be self-motivated and have a strong attention to detail.
• Experience repairing electrical equipment, PLC knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting and repairs of dies in stamping press and toolroom.
• Set up and assemble dies, jigs, gauges, and tools.
• Observe and comply with safety, environmental, regulatory, and OSHA requirements.
• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances with measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of blueprints, GD&T, sketches, and models.
• Follow written and verbal workplace instructions.

Job description

Background within an Automotive environment. Fast paced and attention to detail while being a team player or working independently. Analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit/assemble parts to repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Observes and complies with all safety, environmental, regulatory, and OSHA requirements.
• Troubleshooting and repairs the dies in a stamping press and within the toolroom.
• Knowledge of tool steels for building, repairing, and welding components (TIG/MIG).
• Set and assemble details to build, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools using machines and hand tools.
• Spot or polish details for nesting of parts and high wear surfaces with the use of die grinders.
• Verify dimensions,alignments,and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks,micrometers,and dial indicators.
• Knowledge of blueprints, GD&T, sketches, and models.
• Must be able to understand and follow written and verbal workplace instructions.
• Additional functions not specifically outlined in this position description as directed by the supervisor/manager.
