Job summary

Atlas Tube at Zekelman Industries in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Tool Room Attendant to support production by tooling setup, repair, and maintenance. You will work closely with production teams during changeovers and ensure tooling readiness, accuracy, and organization.

The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a manufacturing environment. Shift: 3rd; hours 5:30pm–5:30am with Fridays 5:30pm–4:00am.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in manufacturing or industrial setting.
• General knowledge of roll forming processes and tooling systems.
• Experience using micrometers, calipers and depth gauges.
• Understanding bearings, tolerances, mechanical systems.
• Ability to document tooling records and setup.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Basic computer skills for tracking and reporting.
• Proficient with hand, pneumatic, hydraulic tools; cranes and forklifts.
• Experience with lathes, grinders, end mills preferred.
• Strong safety orientation; detail-oriented and team-focused.

Responsibilities

• Inspect roll stands for wear and damage.
• Repair or replace worn parts: shafts, bearings, plates, rolls, jacks.
• Gauge roll stands per specifications using calibrated tools.
• Review roll schedules and prepare tooling for upcoming production runs.
• Package and coordinate shipment of unrepairable rolls for regrinding.
• Maintain tooling refurbishment records and inventory.
• Keep tooling and work areas clean and organized.
• Maintain accurate prints; document changes when approved.
• Attend safety meetings and follow policies.
• Submit accurate work orders for equipment issues.
• Assist with mill changeovers; cross-train team members.
