Job summary

Dauch Corporation in Detroit-based operations is seeking a Tool Room Machinist to set up and operate manual and CNC tooling to fabricate fixtures, dies, gauges, and precision components. You will interpret blueprints, GD&T, and tolerances to ensure tooling accuracy and minimal downtime.

Ideal candidates have 3–7+ years in tool rooms, strong measurement skills with calipers/micrometers, and experience with CAD/CAM software. Join a team focused on quality and tooling efficiency.

Qualifications

• 3–7+ years in tool room or precision machining.
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
• Experience with tight tolerance machining.
• Proficient in manual machining.
• CNC setup experience preferred.
• Knowledge of tool steels, heat treating, and surface finishes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual machines (lathe, mill, surface grinder, drill).
• Set up CNC mills and/or lathes (prove out programs, set offsets, adjust tooling).
• Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
• Manufacture and repair fixtures, dies, jigs, and special tooling.
• Hold tight tolerances (±.0005" or as required).
• Troubleshoot machining issues and propose process improvements.
• Maintain tool room organization and comply with safety standards.
