Job summary

Dauch Corporation is seeking a Tool Room Machinist to set up and operate manual and CNC tooling to manufacture, repair, and modify fixtures, dies, jigs, and gauges with precise tolerances in Detroit, MI.

The role requires 3–7+ years in a tool room or precision machining environment, strong blueprint reading and GD&T skills, and experience with tight tolerance machining. CAD/CAM software experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 3–7+ years in tool room or precision machining environment.
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
• Experience with tight tolerance machining.
• Proficient in manual machining (critical in tool room).
• CNC setup experience preferred.
• Knowledge of tool steels, heat treating, and surface finishes.
• Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, and other inspection equipment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• GED or high school diploma required.
• Preferred CAD/CAM software experience.
• Experience in die and/or fixture building.
• Journeyman machinist certification (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual machines (lathe, mill, surface grinder, drill press, hole burner, etc.).
• Set up CNC mills and/or lathes (prove out programs, set offsets, adjust tooling).
• Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
• Manufacture and repair fixtures, dies, jigs, and tooling.
• Hold tight tolerances (±0.0005" or as required).
• Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend process improvements.
• Assist with tooling design modifications.
• Maintain tool room organization and equipment.
• Follow all safety procedures and company standards.
