Job summary

Simpson Strong-Tie in McKinney, TX, seeks a Tool & Die Maker to support manufacturing by constructing and machining dies, repairing and building dies and prototypes, and operating tool room machinery for precision finishing.

You will study prints, apply materials knowledge, and troubleshoot die issues at the press to maintain quality and production. The role requires 5+ years in dies/tools, AutoCAD CAD/CAM experience, and strong communication and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or technical education in machining or related field preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive dies and tools experience.
• CAD/CAM: Ability to work with AutoCAD is a plus.
• Strong communication skills for one‑on‑one and small group situations.
• Self-directed to solve issues and work independently with initiative.
• Creative and innovative thinking to improve processes.
• Teamwork with technicians, employees, and vendors.
• Excellent attention to detail and quality.

Responsibilities

• Select, dress, set up, and use grinding wheels for surface and form grinding.
• Die maintenance: cleaning, inspection, sharpening, preventive maintenance.
• Machine parts using lathe, mill, drill press and other shop equipment.
• Verify assembly by measuring dimensions, clearances, and alignment with precision tools.
