Job summary

Simpson Strong-Tie Company Inc. in McKinney, TX is seeking a skilled Tool & Die Maker to repair and build dies and prototypes. You will operate shop machinery, troubleshoot die issues at the press, and ensure quality and production targets are met. Weekend shifts run 6:00 AM–6:30 PM with a $2.50 per hour differential.

Qualified candidates have 5+ years in dies/tools, AA or equivalent, and CAD/CAM (AutoCAD) skills, with strong communication and teamwork abilities. Relocation may be considered.

Qualifications

• AA or equivalent from a two-year college; degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years progressive dies and tools experience.
• CAD/CAM: AutoCAD proficiency is a plus.
• Strong communication to present information to customers, clients, and staff.
• Self-directed to solve issues and work independently.
• Creative and innovative thinking to improve methods.
• Teamwork with technicians, employees, and vendors.
• Attention to detail and quality in all tasks.

Responsibilities

• Select, dress, set up, and use grinding wheels for surface grinding and form grinding.
• Perform die maintenance: cleaning, inspection, sharpening, preventive maintenance; repair and restoration of damaged dies as needed.
• Machine parts using lathe, mill, drill press, and other shop equipment.
• Verify assembly by measuring dimensions and alignment with micrometers, gauges, and indicators; ensure die performance at the press matches specifications.
