Challenge Manufacturing is seeking an experienced tool and die professional for our Pontiac, MI plant. You will read blueprints, set up tooling, and machine dies using lathes, mills, grinders, and other tools, ensuring parts meet specifications.

Qualified candidates have 2+ years of verifiable tool and die experience, be comfortable with Mastercam and SolidWorks, and able to work up to 12 hours daily. High school diploma or equivalent is required; journeyman apprenticeship is preferred.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Journeyman or completed apprenticeship preferred.
• Minimum 2+ years verifiable tool and die experience required.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Mastercam and SolidWorks experience preferred.
• Intermediate level of machining and metal working experience.
• Strong mechanical and shop math aptitude.
• Must be able to work up to 12 hours per day, including weekends.
• Must be able to obtain a hi-lo license.

Responsibilities

• Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models to determine materials and machines.
• Set up and operate machine tools to machine parts.
• Measure, mark, and scribes metal stock for machining.
• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
• Heat treat tools or parts and inspect quality of machined parts.
• Troubleshoot tooling and resolve problems to maintain quality.
• Follow safety precautions and company policies.
• Use calipers, micrometers, gauge pins and blocks for measurements.
