Tool & Die Maker-Journeyman position available at an established manufacturing company in the Eaton Rapids, Michigan area.
This is a direct hire opportunity with a pay rate of $36.07/journey card holder. Day or night shift availability. OT as required.
Shift times:
- 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
Major responsibilities of the Tool & Die Maker position:
- Maintain a safe and productive work environment.
- Build, repair, and maintain tooling, fixtures, dies, and jigs to required specifications.
- Set up, operate machine shop equipment, selecting appropriate materials, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, coolants, and lubricants.
- Perform machining, welding, heat treating, fitting, and assembly operations.
- Inspect finished and in-process work using precision measuring and gauging equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair tooling, including dies while in production.
- Collaborate with manufacturing as well as other plant departments on equipment, tooling projects.
- Provide manufacturing input to product designers on new products and processes.
- Participate in training, continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain and provide personal tools required for the position.
Knowledge, skills and abilities required for the Tool & Die Maker-Journeyman:
- Must know how to skillfully operate a lathe, surface grinder, id/od grinder, and mill, spotting press, radial arm drills and any other related tool room equipment.
- Must have experience with trim tool build and repair
- Ability to read and interprets blueprints or works from verbal or written instructions or from the part to be copied or fitted.
- Ability to communicate in English both orally and in writing, effectively work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to work overtime
- Must be able to follow directions of a supervisor
- Must be cooperative with other employees
Requirements:
- 5 years’ experience in high pressure cast due build and repair
- Must have an active journeymen’s card/certificate
- HS diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to work in an automotive manufacturing environment and meet the physical requirements of the position.
