Job summary

Whirlpool Corporation in Racine, Wisconsin seeks a Tool and Die Maker Apprentice to learn the craft under supervision, studying blueprints, layouts, and machining processes to build precision tooling.

You will train in setup, measurement, heat treatment support, and quality verification, with a path toward Journeyman Tool and Die Maker, and competitive pay starting at $30.30/hour with shift options.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required and basic math skills.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and layouts.
• Fundamental troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Experience with toolroom machinery or CNC basics is preferred.
• Understanding of punch press principles is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in studying blueprints, sketches, and 3D models to plan fabrication.
• Learn to compute dimensions and layouts for efficient production.
• Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, grinders and similar tools.
• Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for machining and tooling.
• Inspect parts with precision measuring tools and verify tolerances.
• Assist in heat-treating of tools and parts as needed.
• Support wiring and hydraulic connections for tooling installations.
• Assist in design modification and sketching tools from descriptions.
