Job summary

Parallel Employment is seeking a Tool and Die Maker in Racine, WI to design and build prototypes, tooling, fixtures, and stamping dies, and to troubleshoot production issues while supporting production goals.

Responsibilities include following blueprints, setting up mills and surface grinders, performing preventative maintenance, verifying dimensions with micrometers, and completing die sharpening and routine tool room tasks. First shift, $28-35/hr, on-site in Racine, WI.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Tool and Die apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
  • 2-3 years in a tool and die maker role in metal stamping.
  • Ability to read blueprints/technical drawings and verify dimensions.
  • Experience operating mills, surface grinders, and related tool room equipment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA rules (lockout/tagout, machine guarding).
  • Strong communication in English and ability to follow written instructions.

Job description

In this role, you will collaborate with Engineering to design and build prototypes, tooling, fixtures, and stamping dies. Additionally, you will troubleshoot production issues, perform repairs and adjustments to tooling, and operate precision machinery to support production goals.

  • Partner with Engineering to develop and construct prototypes, tooling, fixtures, and dies by following blueprints and technical drawings to ensure precise specifications are met.
  • Set up and operate tool room machinery, including mills and surface grinders.
  • Collaborate with production teams to perform preventative maintenance of machines and tooling while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Troubleshoot production-related tooling issues and make necessary repairs or adjustments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Verify dimensions and tolerances using micrometers, gauges, and dial indicators.
  • Complete die sharpening, maintenance, and routine tool room tasks.

1st shift: 6am-2:30, M-F.

Pay BOE: $28-35/hr.

Racine, WI.

Temp to Hire, on site.

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a tool and die maker or equivalent role in a metal stamping environment.
  • Strong understanding of building, maintaining, and troubleshooting progressive and compound dies.
  • Strong knowledge of machining processes, tolerances, and tooling, with the ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure precision and accuracy.

Experience operating cranes, hoists and table lifts to manipulate heavy tooling.

  • Strong attention to detail and shop math skills with demonstrated capability of using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and gauges.
  • Understanding of OSHA rules and regulations (i.e. lockout/tagout, machine guarding)
  • Effective communication skills: must be able read and write clearly and concisely in English and understand/follow written work instructions and company procedures.
  • Computer literate with demonstrated working experience/knowledge in an ERP environment (Epicor is a plus), and proficiency in MS Office Suite and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be capable of lifting/moving up to 50 pounds periodically throughout the shift and standing/walking/bending/squatting regularly throughout the workday.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a Tool and Die apprenticeship program or equivalent experience required.
