Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tool & Die Maker to fabricate, repair, and maintain tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures used in the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will have strong machining skills, experience with blueprints, and a commitment to quality and precision.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD files to plan tool and die manufacturing.
• Set up and operate manual and CNC machines (e.g., lathes, mills, grinders, EDM).
• Construct and repair a wide variety of tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
• Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.
• Conduct inspections and test the performance of completed tools and dies to ensure specifications are met.
• Maintain preventive maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Collaborate with engineers and production teams to resolve tool-related issues.
• Document work performed and maintain accurate records of tool changes or improvements.
• Adhere to safety protocols and quality standards throughout the toolmaking process.

Requirements

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a recognized Tool & Die Maker apprenticeship or equivalent trade certification.
• 3–5 years of experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficient in blueprint reading and GD&T.
• Knowledge of metallurgy and heat treatment of tool steels.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software is an asset.
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving and mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and move heavy tools and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
• Standing, walking, and working on machines for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity and visual acuity for precision tasks.
