Job Title: Tool & Die Maker

Join Principal Manufacturing Corporation as a Tool & Die Maker in Broadview, IL. We are a leader in fineblanking, conventional stamping, and plastic injection molding.

Pay Range

This range is provided by Principal Manufacturing Corporation. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience. Discuss with your recruiter for more details.

Base pay range: $25.00/hr - $40.00/hr

Responsibilities

• Work from blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
• Manufacture components to tight tolerances and inspect finished dies for accuracy and defects.
• Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools using machine and hand tools.
• Build, maintain, and repair manufacturing tooling; compute finishing details of dies; ensure manufacturing standards.
• Train apprentices or subordinates in Toolroom equipment, blueprint reading, and measuring tools.
• Perform production assignments efficiently within scheduled timeframes.
• Debug dies accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with Tool Design Engineers to ensure tooling manufacturability.
• Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to meet specifications, making adjustments as necessary.
• Accurately record tooling costs and repair history in the Plex system.
• Follow all safety rules, maintain a clean work area, and adhere to lean guidelines.
• Update dimensions for final tool timing sheets.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma and Journeyman Tool and Die Maker certification (Federal or TMA/TDI).
• Basic AutoCAD skills.
• At least 4 years of tool making experience in fineblanking, stamping, EDM, CNC, and plastic insert molding.
• Ability to set up and operate CNC and conventional machine tools.
• Basic computer skills and Plex system knowledge.
• Understanding of fineblanking, stamping operations, fixtures, gauges, secondary tooling, and Toolroom equipment.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, calculating geometry, and basic math.
• Basic understanding of TS quality system.
