Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Group Leader for the Pontiac Metal Center. The role oversees tool and die makers, driving safety, quality, and productivity in a high-demand stamping environment.

You will mentor staff, coordinate tool and die activities with engineering and maintenance, and identify improvements to reduce downtime and optimize operations. Strong leadership and CAD/CNC experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills and conflict management.
• Familiarity with CAD software, CNC machines, and other tool and die equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot issues in tool and die operations.
• High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Basic computer proficiency (Word, typing, email, etc.).
• Must be willing to work weekends and rotating shifts.
• 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of tool and die makers, ensuring safety and quality.
• Oversee design, fabrication, and maintenance of tools and dies used in automotive manufacturing.
• Ensure all tools and dies meet specifications and quality standards.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Coordinate tool and die activities with engineering, production, and maintenance teams.
• Provide training and development opportunities for team members.
• Manage inventory and timely procurement of tools, dies, and materials.
• Prepare and present regular reports on tool and die operations.
