Job summary

General Motors Manufacturing Group in Pontiac is seeking a qualified Group Leader to oversee day-to-day tool and die operations, mentor hourly staff, and ensure safety, quality, and productivity standards.

You'll coordinate design, fabrication, and maintenance of automotive stamping tools and dies, drive process improvements, and partner with engineering, production, and maintenance to meet manufacturing goals.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills and decision making in conflict situations.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and troubleshooting in tool and die operations.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Proficient with basic computer tools (MS Word, email).
• Willing to work weekends and rotating shifts.
• 18+ years old with HS diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of tool and die makers, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards.
• Oversee the design, fabrication, and maintenance of tools and dies used in automotive manufacturing.
• Ensure all tools and dies meet specifications and quality standards.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
• Coordinate tool and die activities with engineering, production, and maintenance teams to meet manufacturing goals.
• Provide training and development opportunities for team members to enhance tooling skills.
• Manage inventory and procurement of tools, dies, and related materials.
• Prepare and present reports on tool and die operations including productivity, quality, and maintenance.
