Job summary

Cherry Aerospace in Santa Ana, CA is seeking a 2nd Shift Tool Designer to engineer high-precision tooling for cold heading and hot forge departments, collaborating with master tool and die makers to translate digital models into production-ready components.

You will own complex layouts, ensure ASME standards and GD&T, and drive manufacturability from design through documentation.

Qualifications

SolidWorks 5–10 years of parametric modeling experience with configurations/design tables.
ASME Y14.5 knowledge and GD&T applications.
Ability to read, interpret, and reverse-engineer complex blueprints and router instructions.
Design components optimized for manufacturability and assembly.
Strong algebra/geometry with clear communication and problem solving.

Responsibilities

Design & Innovate: create precise 3D models and 2D drawings in a 3D environment.
Bring Blueprints to Life: develop component drawings and work instructions for current and next-gen products.
Master ASME Standards: ensure layouts, routers, and schematics meet ASME standards.
Own the Math: manage tolerance stack-ups and GD&T dimensions.
Keep Production Moving: monitor lead times to avoid schedule delays.
