Job summary

Cherry Aerospace, a PCC division, seeks a 2nd Shift Tool Designer in Santa Ana, CA. You’ll design and document high-precision tooling for cold heading and hot forge departments, collaborating with master tool and die makers to drive fit, form and function on the shop floor.

You will own complex mechanical layouts, ensure ASME/GD&T compliance, and optimize for manufacturability while maintaining schedule integrity. This is a 100% in-person, shift-based role in Santa Ana.

Qualifications

• 5 to 10 years of hands-on parametric modeling in SolidWorks.
• Strong knowledge of ASME modeling, GD&T, and Y14.5.
• Ability to read, interpret, and reverse‑engineer complex blueprints and router instructions.
• Design components optimized for manufacturability and assembly.
• Solid mathematical and geometric problem‑solving skills; good communication.

Responsibilities

• Design & Innovate: create precise parametric models, 2D drawings, and packaging in a 3D environment.
• Bring blueprints to life: engineer component drawings and step-by-step work instructions.
• Master ASME standards: draft layouts and schematics meeting ASME requirements.
• Own the math: manage tolerance stacks and apply GD&T.
• Keep production moving: monitor lead times for parts procurement.
