Job summary
The Tool Designer at APP is responsible for all aspects of tooling design and production support across the forging facility, aiding the entire product development lifecycle at designated manufacturing locations. You will design tools, create 3D forging models and 2D drawings for quotes, and validate designs with FEA simulations to ensure robust performance.
Interaction with shop floor teams is essential for continuous improvement and meeting customer due dates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years of relevant work experience in mechanical tooling.
- Fundamentals of GD&T and 3D solid modeling proficiency.
- Ability to apply data-driven solutions to design and process challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design tools and support product development across the forging facility.
- Develop 3D forging models and 2D drawings for quotation purposes.
- Validate tool designs using FEA simulation software.
- Collaborate on shop floor to solve problems and optimize processes.
- Support other engineering functions and meet customer due dates.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by department manager.
