Job summary

Caliberr Staffing seeks a Tooling Engineer to design and develop new tooling and fixtures for manufacturing processes. You will draft die designs, plan die stages, and select die sets to meet production needs, drawing on SolidWorks and 3D CAD expertise.

The role involves observing setup and tryouts, coordinating with supervisors, and ensuring tooling meets product requirements and quality standards. Strong DFM and mechanical design skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Strong knowledge of CNC programming and manufacturing processes.
• Experience in design for manufacturability (DFM) and mechanical design engineering.
• Hands-on product design experience and understanding of omechanical components.
• Familiarity with Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT) in tooling layouts.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop new tooling and fixtures for drawing presses and forming operations.
• Draft drawings of die designs to meet specifications and product requirements.
• Determine the sequence of die stages and select die sets accordingly.
• Create scale drawings of each die set for manufacture and assembly.
• Assist in observing setup and tryout to confirm readiness for production.
• Communicate with team and supervisor to coordinate tooling activities.

Job description

Tooling Engineers design and develop new tooling and fixtures, ensuring they meet the specific needs of the manufacturing process

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Design and develop new tooling and fixtures, such as progression dies, deep drawing dies, and transfer systems for drawing presses

Drafts drawings of die designs necessary to form complete forging, stamping, or other methods to produce parts to product requirements and specifications

Determines sequence and number of die stages in which single or progressive cutting, punching, and forming will be accomplished, and type of die sets required to produce complete part, based on knowledge of dies, forming processes, and machines

Selects purchased items, such as die sets and bushings, to incorporate into die design

Drafts scale drawings of each die set, delineating contours and dimensions for manufacture of the complete die as necessary for manufacture and assembly

(May) observe setup and tryout of newly developed die set in production machine to determine need for redesign or readiness for production use

Communicates with co‑workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities

Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks
