Job summary

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain tooling lists for active machine programs.
• Set up tooling for machinists before machining operations.
• Tear down and inspect used tooling; place in correct locations.
• Stock tooling in replenishment system; perform stock checks.
• Maintain a clean, 5S compliant tool room and storage system.
• Assist programmers and shift supervisor to troubleshoot tooling issues.
• Test tooling upgrades and new technology with programmers and tool room coordinator.
• Observe safe work practices and perform other duties as assigned.

The wage range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, certifications, as well as other business and organizational needs. • Day shift: work hours are 4/10 hour days, Monday-Thursday

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:

Responsible for assisting with the production process in the machining department. Inventory and stocking of the tool crib. Breaking down and setting up tooling for the machining centers. Move carts and dollies with items on them. Assists in cleanup.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

• Create and maintain tooling lists for actively used machine programs.
• Set up necessary tooling for machinists before machining operations.
• Tear down, inspect, and place used tooling in the appropriate locations.
• Stock good quality tooling back into the replenishment system.
• Perform inventory checks on replenishable tooling on a routine basis.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and functional tool room and storage system in accordance with proper 5S practices.
• Implement and maintain 5S projects in the tool room and machine shop.
• Work with programmers and the Shift Supervisor to troubleshoot tooling issues and provide technical support to machinists as needed.
• Work with programmers and the tool room coordinator to test potential tooling upgrades and new technology.
• Observe safe work practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS FOR ENTRY:

• High school education or equivalent.
• Technical Degree in machining preferred; currently enrolled in machining courses is acceptable.
• A minimum of 1-2 years of prior experience working in a machine shop tool room and/or good working knowledge of CNC machining and tooling is highly preferred.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good housekeeping practices.
• Knowledge of, or the desire to learn the machine shop environment and tooling needs.
• Basic experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
