Job summary

Daikin Applied is seeking a talented Tool and Die Technician in Owatonna, MN. Under limited supervision, you will set up and operate machine tools, fit and assemble parts, and maintain industrial machines to fabricate or repair tools.

You’ll work 2nd shift (4:00 PM - 2:30 AM, Mon-Thu) and collaborate with engineers and production staff to resolve machining issues, read blueprints, and ensure parts meet specifications while maintaining tool readiness and safety.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree from a two-year college or university in Machining Tool and Die or Machine Tool Programming.
• Three years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair.
• Test operates machine to verify dimensions and alignment of assembly and conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
• Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated.
• Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
• Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on metal stock surfaces.
• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth of cut.
• Instructs operators or other workers in machine setup and operation.
• Changes worn cutting tools and adjusts operation of machine as required.
• Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment.

What you will do:

• Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction anddetermineneedfor adjustment or repair. Dismantles machine or equipment to examine parts fordefector to remove defectivepart. Installs or replaces defectivepartin mechanisms, machines or equipment with newpartor repairs or reproducespartfrom various kinds of metal stock.

• Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated. Studies blueprints, sketches, machine parts or specifications todeterminetype and dimensions of metal stockrequired.
• Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
• Measures, marks, andscribesdimensions and reference points on metal stock surfaces.
• Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, and grinders.
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media according to type of operation and specified material and finish.
• Instructs operators or other workers in machine setup and operation.
• Changes worn cutting tools andadjustsoperation of machine such as cutting speed, feed rate or depth of cut whenrequired.
• Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

The typical hourly range for this position ranges from$23.66 - $36.59/hour in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
