Job summary

Daikin Applied Americas is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer in Owatonna, MN to support process improvements and lean initiatives across production lines. You will work with senior engineers to optimize workflow, layout, and safety while ensuring cost-effective manufacturing practices.

Responsibilities include time studies, bottleneck analysis, and cross-functional collaboration on new product manufacturability and process guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
  • SolidWorks, AutoCAD 2D, MS Office and MS Project experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide manufacturing engineering expertise to support the management team and collaborate on process improvements.
  • Perform time studies to identify bottlenecks and optimize line flow.
  • Analyze operational data to optimize equipment layouts and apply lean principles.
  • Recommend methods to improve safety, quality and cost reduction.
  • Create work instructions, training checklists and matrices with the team.
  • Collaborate on new product development to improve manufacturability and cost estimates.
  • Assist with equipment/tool design and capital procurement through bids.
  • Support capital investment projects and manage small projects when needed.
  • Evaluate hourly employee’s job skill knowledge requirements.
  • Gain proficiency with lean tools such as root cause analysis, PDCA, kaizen, and 5S.

Location: Owatonna, MN

Your Responsibilities
  • Provide manufacturing engineering expertise to support the management team, collaborate on process improvement, and contribute to continuous improvement/cost reduction efforts with minimal supervision or under the guidance of a senior Manufacturing Engineer
  • Perform time studies to identify potential process improvement, apply the theory of constraints to identify bottlenecks, and optimize work content for improved line flow
  • Analyze operational data to optimize equipment and workspace layout, following lean manufacturing principles & utilizing the PDCA process to evaluate process changes for performance improvement recommendations
  • Recommend methods for improving worker effectiveness, safety, quality, and cost reduction. This may involve restructuring job duties, optimizing workflow based on PDS principles, relocating workstations and equipment, and considering new equipment purchases
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing engineering team to create work instructions, training checklists, and training matrices; partner with the Safety Manager to establish safe procedures and enhance ergonomics in the manufacturing process
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturability in new product development and create production process guidelines, measurement parameters, and cost estimates for both new and existing products
  • Collaborate on equipment/tool design for production processes and facilitate equipment procurement through quotes/bids
  • Support senior manufacturing engineers with capital investment projects and possibly manage small capital projects (including the creation of funding requests)
  • Assist with the evaluation of hourly employee’s job skill knowledge (JSK) requirements
  • Become skilled in the use of tools in the lean toolbox (e.g., root cause analysis, PDCA, kaizen, 5S, etc.)
Your Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent technical, scientific or engineering degree.
  • SolidWorks, AutoCAD 2D, MS Office and MS Project experience

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $62,000.00 - $100,500.00 in Minnesota. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
