Job Summary

The College of Science and Technology at Temple University seeks a full-time skilled machinist for its Research and Technical Support Facility. The role involves fabricating custom parts, modifying apparatus for research and instruction, interpreting drawings, suggesting fabrication techniques, and managing work of others.

• Serve CST research needs by assembling and machining components based on technical drawings.
• Operate mechanical equipment to assemble, repair, and fabricate metal parts.
• Use CAM software to program equipment.
• Ensure proper dimensions and tolerances using blueprints and sketches.
• Suggest fabrication techniques suitable for research requirements.
• Perform complex tasks independently and lead others.
• Preferred experience with Master CAM, CNC milling, lathes, surface grinders, and sheet metal fabrication.

Required Education & Experience

At least five years of experience operating and maintaining machine shop equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skills & Abilities

• Experience with CNC programming and setup.
• Adherence to safety practices and environmental policies.
• Good communication skills for teaching and collaboration.
• Ability to operate and maintain various machine tools.
• Experience machining metals and plastics.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with TIG welding of stainless steel and MIG welding of aluminum.
