Job summary

FTC USA in Valley Glen, CA is seeking a tool and die maker to perform set-ups and machine or grind components for multiple manufacturing lines. The role requires reading blueprints, using micrometers/calipers/comparators, and a strong grasp of slip and press fit relationships.

The candidate should have 3–5 years of tool making experience in a manufacturing facility and maintain a clean, safe work area while collaborating with toolroom teams.

Qualifications

Under general supervision and according to established policy and procedures the tool and die maker is responsible for performing his/her own set-ups and machine/grind all necessary components required to complete assignments given to support all manufacturing product lines.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Strong understanding of slip and press fit relationships.
• Repair Header tools and make complete header tool components.
• Work with carbide, hardened tool steels, dies and cutting tools to close tolerance.
• Work with mills, lathes, surface grinders, hones, and fixtures.
• Use shop math as required.
• Clean and maintain the work area.
