Job summary

Amazon is seeking TOM Technicians to help build a best-in-class network and maintain sustainable yard systems within Amazon Transportation Services. The role supports TOM leaders in maintaining and troubleshooting yard tech and related systems, with a focus on process validation and field support.

As part of TOM, you will implement technical solutions for hardware, operating systems, and software, troubleshooting straightforward issues, and supporting upgrades to tools and gate/yard technology.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent diploma.
• 2+ years of computer hardware experience, including troubleshooting and repairing.
• 1+ years of corporate setting Windows, Mac or Linux operating systems support experience.

Responsibilities

• Align with the operations team to understand tools and systems that are not working correctly and remedy as appropriate.
• Take ownership of all existing systems and technology that are part of TOM gate and yard operations as well as approved systems not yet implemented at your site.
• Provide tech support on tools such as ALPR and other Gate and Yard Technologies.
• Monitor processes through systems and technology to identify deviation from standard work.
• Pilot test updates to existing tools and implementation of new hardware, software, cameras, and computer instrumentation.
• Deep dive and identify process improvement opportunities in using yard and gate technology to improve TOM team efficiency and reduce process time.
• Manage and communicate any system performance issues.
• Flexibility to travel up to 50% within a 50‑mile radius from home location.
• Ability to move up to 49lbs and stand/walk 10‑12 hours shifts, with or without accommodations.

Amazon’s North America Transportation Operations Management (TOM) Automation Implementation and Execution (TAI‑E) team is looking for Technicians who want to create a best‑in‑class network and maintain sustainable yard systems within Amazon Transportation Services.

This hourly position will support TOM leaders in maintaining and troubleshooting systems and technology related to the yard as well as process validation in relation to the systems used by the field teams. As a TOM Technician, you will support initiatives to innovate and implement automated solutions to drive operations excellence in the transportation space. A successful candidate will be highly organized, extremely detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, capable of handling confidential information, and responding effectively to changing workloads and priorities.

As a TOM Technician, you will use your knowledge and specialized skills to implement technical solutions and provide high‑quality support for computer and electronic hardware, operating systems, and software used in TOM managed yards. You are able to determine when it is appropriate to deviate from a standard practice to accomplish the desired result. You can troubleshoot and solve straightforward problems that do not have defined SOPs.

Basic Qualifications

• High school or equivalent diploma
• 2+ years of computer hardware experience, including troubleshooting and repairing experience
• 1+ years of corporate setting Windows, Mac or Linux operating systems support experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, computer science, machine learning, robotics, operations research, statistics, mathematics or equivalent quantitative field
• 2+ years of supporting and maintaining a corporate network environment experience
• 2+ years of professional or military experience
• 2+ years of network troubleshooting and support experience
