Vance-Granville Community College seeks a Child Care Specialist Assistant to support daily care and teaching for one- and two-year-olds. You report to the Child Care Manager and the Director, providing warm one-on-one attention, assisting with feeding, diapering, and developmentally appropriate activities in a hands-on classroom.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• North Carolina Child Care Credential or ≥12 semester hours in Early Childhood Education.
• Willing to submit to local, state, and federal background checks; health statement; TB test; CPR/First Aid within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Ensure well-being of all children in the toddler classroom; assist with routines and housekeeping.
• Provide warm, one-on-one attention to toddlers in self-feeding and self-help.
• Lead age-appropriate activities when the teacher is busy or absent.
• Support diapering/toilet learning and respond to health/ sanitation procedures.
• Relieve teachers daily to provide staff breaks.
• Arrange the classroom for quiet play, meals, and naps; manage cribs/cots.
• Maintain child files, conduct observations, and document attendance and meds.
• Communicate with parents about issues; participate in staff meetings and training.
