Job summary

Utah County is seeking a part-time Tobacco Underage Buyer to conduct compliance checks and support the Tobacco Program. You will perform underage tobacco purchases under supervision, report outcomes, and coordinate scheduling with health promotion staff.

Applicants must be 17–20.5 years old, have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and be available at least two days weekly, with flexible hours. This position starts immediately and supports community prevention efforts.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 17 and not older than 20 and a half.
• Cannot work in this position after age 20 and a half.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be willing to buy tobacco products without lying about your age.
• Must be available at least 2 days a week throughout the day, in the late afternoon, or evening.
• Must have reliable transportation to meet at Health & Justice Building in Provo or other locations.
• Hours are variable; this is not a guaranteed part-time job with fixed hours.
• Must have reliable and prompt communication skills.

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Position: Tobacco Underage Buyer - Tobacco Program - Part Time - No Benefits

Individuals must be between 17 and20years old and commit to at least 6 months of work as an Underage Buyer

Hours: Flexible and Variable Salary: $14.28 - $16.42 per hour (depending on age)

Under close supervision, conducts underage tobacco buys (compliance checks) with health promotion staff, community members, and law enforcement. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable work experience and help prevent underage tobacco access in our community.

Assessor The Utah County Assessor's office is responsible for classifying all property in the county; in cooperation with the Recorder's office, associate ownership with the property; establishing a taxable value for all property subject to property taxation; and compiling this information into reports that are utilized by the Auditor's office to calculate tax rates and the Treasurer's office for collections.

Clerk/Auditor The County Auditor investigates all financial claims against the county and pays the bills. The Clerk Auditors Office examines the financial bonds kept by the other county officials to see that accurate and complete records are maintained. Conducts all elections in Utah county pertaining to county, state or national offices, and marriage licenses and passports are processed in the Clerk/Auditor Office.

Recorder The County Recorder keeps the official records of the county, recording mortgages, deeds, and other documents involving property. The Recorder also maintains up-to-date maps which show current ownership of every section of land.

Sheriff The County Sheriff is the law enforcement officer in the county and is responsible for the preservation of the peace. The Sheriff and deputies make arrests and prepare legal papers for Sheriff's sale. The Sheriff also oversees the County Jail.

Surveyor The County Surveyor Office identifies and protects the section corner monuments that define record title (real property) interests. The Surveyor Office acts as a depository for all records of survey and is responsible for performing survey work for Utah County.

Health The Utah County Health Department seeks to prevent avoidable disease and injury, and promote health by monitoring the health of the community, and assuring conditions in which people can be healthy.

Information Systems The Information Systems department provides technology support to all Utah County government agencies. This support includes acquisition, deployment and management of computer-based workstations, software applications, local and wide-area network infrastructure, security, and information use policy.

Children's Justice Center The Children's Justice Center is a homelike facility which serves children and families who are experiencing the crisis and chaos that comes with the disclosure of significant physical or sexual abuse of a child.

Human Resources The County Human Resources Office provides full Human Resource services including payroll and benefits for approximately 1,200 Utah County employees.

Justice Court The Utah County Justice Court is established by Utah County and has the authority to deal with class B and C misdemeanors, violations of ordinances, small claims, and infractions committed within County jurisdiction.

Public Works The Utah County Public Works Department is a multi-service Department within County government operating in the areas of Administration, Buildings, Engineering, Mapping, Motor Pool, Parks, Roads, Special Projects, Surveying and Telecommunications.
