Job summary

Utah County Health Department seeks to prevent disease and promote health by monitoring community health and ensuring conditions for health. The Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist II role involves inspections, investigations, and training to ensure compliance with emissions regulations.

Starting pay for the II level is 724 tier: $31.55–$36.06 per hour; Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Candidates may be bilingual in English and Spanish; ASE certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Four years of work experience in automotive engine performance and emission control diagnosis and repair.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Possess or obtain Utah County Emissions License during probation/trial period.
• Eligible candidates may have ASE Certifications in Engine Repair, Electrical, Engine Performance, or Automatic Transmission/Transaxle.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with emissions regulations through audits and inspections.
• Investigate complaints and provide technical support.
• Develop and deliver training programs related to emissions compliance.
• Maintain records and perform related duties as assigned.

• The Opportunity:

Under general guidance and direction of a Bureau Director, the Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist II is responsible for ensuring compliance with emissions regulations through a combination of auditing, technical expertise, and training. This role involves conducting inspections, investigating complaints, providing technical support, and developing and delivering training programs.

Grade:

**Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist II -- 724**

**Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist I - 721**

Starting Pay:

**724 - $31.55 - $36.06 per hour**

**721 - $25.45 - $29.24 per hour**

**Schedule: Monday -- Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.**

**Job Qualifications -- Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist II**

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Four (4) years of work experience in automotive engine performance and emission control diagnosis and repair.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
• Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a minimum of one (1) of the following ASE Certifications: Engine Repair, Electrical, Engine Performance, Automatic Transmission/Transaxle.

Job Qualifications -- Vehicle Emissions Compliance Specialist I

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of work experience in the automotive industry or an Inspection and Maintenance related field.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may also be considered.
• Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

Selected applicants must possess or obtain Utah County Emissions License during the probationary period for new employees or the trial period for County employees promoted through competitive recruitment.
