Job summary

Licking Memorial Hospital (LMH) in Newark, OH is seeking a Tobacco Treatment Specialist to support the Quit for Your Health tobacco cessation program. The role involves one-on-one counseling, using evidence-based techniques, and creating personalized care plans to help clients become tobacco-free.

Requirements include tobacco treatment certification or ability to obtain it after hire, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and at least an Associates Degree with healthcare experience

Qualifications

• Minimum of Associates Degree; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide coaching and education using motivational interviewing, self-management education and relapse prevention strategies to support tobacco cessation.
• Utilize evidence-based techniques while providing one-on-one counseling to create an individualized plan of treatment.
• Assess and evaluate patients and develop plan of care integrating various nicotine replacement therapy.
• Provide assistance in developing effective coping strategies to keep clients tobacco-free.
• Attend and present at community education events as needed.
• Participate in continuous training and education to maintain quality standards.

Summary

Licking Memorial Hospital (LMH) Tobacco Cessation Program, Quit for Your Health, is designed to help people stop using tobacco or nicotine. For most individuals, this requires the support of a Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialists. Our counselors utilize evidence-based techniques to help participants develop a plan that will offer an opportunity to become tobacco-free. Following the initial consultation, participants are counseled individually for one or more additional sessions. These counseling sessions will provide techniques to cope with the behavioral and lifestyle changes that come when quitting tobacco/nicotine use.

Requirements

• Must possess a high level of interpersonal skills
• Minimum of Associates Degree, Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
• At least one year's experience in counseling, health education, or patient care preferred
• Must be nicotine free
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Must be an adaptable team player
• LMH is accredited by DNV and TJC, and as such, may require specific annual education related to specialty certifications and standards.
