Job summary

Central York School District is seeking a Title I Instructional Assistant to support students at Hayshire Elementary School with reading and math interventions. The role involves small-group or one-on-one instruction under teachers and the reading specialist, helping to monitor progress and maintain materials and records.

The position emphasizes a positive classroom climate, collaboration with staff, and adapting materials under guidance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Qualified by: associate degree or higher; 48 college credits; CAPE test; local assessment.
• Must be organized with good communication skills.
• Background checks: PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Criminal History.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to Title I students in developing reading and math strategies.
• Assist teachers and certified reading specialist in monitoring student progress.
• Assist the teacher with an environment conducive to learning.
• Develop materials per reading specialist instructions.
• Maintain Title I materials inventory and duplicate resources as needed.
• Help maintain Title I records.
• Assist Reading Specialist/Classroom Teacher with individual drill and practice.
• Foster a positive classroom climate emphasizing understanding and self-esteem.
• Identify potential problem areas and communicate to the teacher.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the principal.
