Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Qualified by: associate degree or higher; 48 college credits; CAPE test; local assessment.
• Must be organized with good communication skills.
• Background checks: PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Criminal History.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to Title I students in developing reading and math strategies.
• Assist teachers and certified reading specialist in monitoring student progress.
• Assist the teacher with an environment conducive to learning.
• Develop materials per reading specialist instructions.
• Maintain Title I materials inventory and duplicate resources as needed.
• Help maintain Title I records.
• Assist Reading Specialist/Classroom Teacher with individual drill and practice.
• Foster a positive classroom climate emphasizing understanding and self-esteem.
• Identify potential problem areas and communicate to the teacher.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the principal.

Central York School District (CYSD) has an opportunity for a Title I Instructional Assistants to join Hayshire Elementary School. The Title I Instructional Assistant will work closely with teachers to provide targeted instructional support in small groups or one-on-one settings, focusing on reading and math interventions for students who qualify for Title I services.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Please note: Duties and responsibilities for this position will vary depending on the grade to which the position is assigned, and if the position supports an entire classroom, a small group of students, or provides one-on‑one assistance to a student.

• Provide assistance to Title I students in developing reading and math strategies, as assigned.
• Assist teachers and certified reading specialist in monitoring student progress.
• Assist the teacher with maintenance of an environment and climate conductive to learning.
• Develop materials in accordance with the directions of the reading specialist.
• Maintain inventory of Title I materials, including the duplication of appropriate resources.
• Help maintain Title I records.
• Assist the Reading Specialist/Classroom Teacher in providing individual drill and practice as needed.
• Help maintain a positive classroom climate, which fosters understanding, respect, and self-esteem.
• Be alert for problem areas and communicate potential problems to the teacher.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the building principal.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Highly Qualified Status by one of the following means is required:
• Possess an associate's degree or higher
• Have completed two years of post‑secondary study (48 college credits)
• Demonstrate satisfactory performance on the CAPE test
• Demonstrate satisfactory performance on the local assessment
• Must demonstrate the ability to be organized and have good communication skills
• Must have (or willing to obtain) current PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse and FBI Criminal History Background Checks

Hourly Rate

$14.40-$19.15

• Step placement shall be based on years of service recognized by employer.
