Job summary

Central York School District in Hayshire, PA is hiring a Title I Instructional Assistant for Hayshire Elementary School. The assistant will work with teachers to provide targeted reading and math interventions for students who qualify for Title I services, in small groups or one‑on‑one.

The role supports a strong school mission and inclusive learning environment, with a 6.5‑hour day, 186 days per year, and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must qualify by one of: associate degree or higher; 48 college credits; CAPE test; local assessment.
• Ability to be organized and have good communication skills.
• Willing to obtain PA background checks (Criminal, Child Abuse, FBI).

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to Title I students in developing reading and math strategies.
• Assist teachers and certified reading specialist in monitoring student progress.
• Assist the teacher with maintenance of an environment conducive to learning.
• Develop materials in accordance with the directions of the reading specialist.
• Maintain inventory of Title I materials and duplication of resources.
• Help maintain Title I records.
• Assist the Reading Specialist/Classroom Teacher in providing individual drill and practice.
• Help maintain a positive classroom climate that fosters understanding, respect, and self-esteem.
• Be alert for problem areas and communicate potential problems to the teacher.
• Perform special projects and other duties as assigned by the building principal.
