Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking an entry‑level Tissue Processor under direct supervision to prepare tissue specimens for routine and special diagnostic procedures. Responsibilities include processing, embedding, sectioning and staining tissues for light and fluorescence microscopy, with emphasis on accuracy and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• One year of experience is required.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• ASCP certification eligibility is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Processes, embeds, cuts, and stains surgical, biopsy and anatomical tissues for slide review.
• Examines slides under microscope to ensure tissue prep and staining meet requirements.
• Prioritizes test procedures and completes procedures in a timely manner.
• Maintains proper records of all tests according to policies and regulations.
• Performs instrument maintenance using established protocols.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
