Job summary

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a tissue preparation technician to assist in routine and special histology procedures. Under direct supervision, you will prepare tissue specimens for analysis and ensure quality in staining and slide review.

Responsibilities include processing tissues, examining slides under a microscope, and maintaining accurate records. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently while following strict confidentiality protocols.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience is required.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Eligible for ASCP certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Processes, embeds, cuts, and stains surgical, biopsy and anatomical tissues for slide review.
• Examines slides under microscope to ensure tissue preparation and staining meet requirements.
• Prioritizes test procedures and completes procedures in a timely manner.
• Maintains proper records of all tests in accordance with policies and regulations.
• Performs instrument maintenance following established protocols.
