Job summary

Premier Truck Rental (PTR) in Fort Wayne, IN, seeks a Tire and Lube Technician to join our team. You will perform inspections, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance on our rental fleet to keep units ready for customers.

Responsibilities include using the TopDon scanner, reading manuals, and ensuring quality and safety standards. This role requires lifting up to 50 lbs and outdoor/shop work, with benefits starting on day one.

Qualifications

• Must maintain a good driving record and be properly licensed.
• Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
• Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong team player.
• Must be able to work both inside the shop environment and outdoors.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
• Basic written communication skills and proficiency in using a tablet.

Responsibilities

• Follow quality and safety standards for repair and maintenance with inspections.
• Perform minor repairs and basic visual/mechanical inspections.
• Do lube oil and filter preventative maintenance.
• Use basic diagnostic tools (TopDon scanner).
• Read OEM recall and warranty information.
• Read service manuals and verify items installed.
• Perform electronic vehicle check-in inspections via tablet.
• Troubleshoot basic mechanical/electrical problems.
• Prioritize safety, quality, and customer service.
• Escalate judgments to the department manager.
• Work with the team to improve repair processes.
• Uphold 5S in the workspace.

TheTire and Lube Technician ensures the quality of our rental fleet is maintained throughout its entire rental life span. Working together with team members, our quality check-in technicians perform hundreds of inspections per month to keep our customized rental fleet operational.

LOCATION

• Onsite- Fort Wayne

RATE OF PAY

• Hourly rate pay is $21.75 + Overtime + Benefits that start day one

HOURS OF OPERATION

• Monday through Friday 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understand and execute all quality and safety standards regarding repair and maintenance procedures and best practices, with work performed passing a quality inspection.
• Know how to complete minor repairs & basic visual and mechanical inspections based on a quality standard checklist.
• Perform lube oil and filter preventative maintenance.
• Understanding of basic diagnostic tooling (TopDon scanner).
• Understand basic recall and warranty information from OEMs.
• Understand how to utilize and read service manuals.
• Verify all repair and maintenance items have been properly installed, and complete.
• Understand the PTR return, check-in, and QC inspection process from start to finish.
• Perform electronic vehicle check-in inspections via a tablet with close attention to detail to ensure we are capturing all billable damages.
• Troubleshoot basic automotive mechanical and electrical problems through visual and mechanical inspections.
• Prioritize safety, quality, and customer service.
• Escalate judgment calls to the department manager.
• Work together with team members and Department Manager to continuously improve repair and maintenance processes.
• 5S (Sort, Shine, Straighten, Standardize, Sustain): Implement and uphold 5S principles within the workspace to improve efficiency and organization.
