Job summary

Manulife/John Hancock is seeking a Portfolio Analyst to support Portfolio Managers in the Timberland Portfolio Management & Client Services team. You will lead analytics, performance analysis, and reporting for assigned client portfolios, and build robust financial models for acquisitions and dispositions.

You will collaborate across operations, research, planning, and accounting to interpret performance drivers and ensure alignment with client IMAs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Forestry, Natural Resources, or related field; graduate degree preferred
• Progress toward/commitment to CFA/CAIA is desirable
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills for financial and client presentations
• Experience in investment analysis, portfolio management, or client advisory is a plus
• Strong analytical skills and ability to communicate complex information clearly

Responsibilities

• Lead portfolio analytics, performance analysis, and reporting for assigned client portfolios
• Conduct in-depth evaluations of historical and forecasted portfolio performance
• Analyze acquisition/disposition opportunities with robust financial modeling
• Collaborate with operations, research, planning, and accounting teams
• Review property-level budgets and long-term plans to align with objectives
• Monitor global timberland market dynamics and macro trends
• Prepare MD&A narratives for quarterly and annual reports
• Support client portfolio reviews and presentations with Portfolio Managers
• Respond to client inquiries with data-driven insights
• Assist in development of acquisition funding strategies and financial models
• Contribute to ad hoc analyses and special projects
• Support AI and emerging tech to enhance analytics and productivity
