Job summary

Tri-State Fabricators Inc. is seeking a skilled welder/fabricator to perform TIG, MIG, and flux-core welding on sheet metal parts per drawings and specifications. You will use calipers and weld gauges, operate an overhead crane, and maintain a safe, organized work area.

Applicants should have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 3–4 years of welding experience in metal fabrication. OSHA safety compliance is required and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required or preferred.
  • 3–4 years welding experience in metal fabrication is preferred.
  • Ability to read manufacturing blueprints and tolerances.
  • Must adhere to safety practices and OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Weld components using TIG, MIG and Flux core welding per drawings and specs.
  • Operate overhead crane and hand tools; maintain tools and equipment.
  • Inspect welds with gauges, calipers and inspection procedures.
  • Document work times, sign off routers, and keep a clean, safe work area.

Job description

Fabrication – TIG and Flux core welding of sheet metal parts consisting of a variety of materials such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc.

Duties and Essential Job Functions
  • TIG, MIG and Flux core welding of metal components in accordance with manufacturing drawings, layouts, diagrams, and spec sheets while maintaining compliance with all applicable standards of safety and performance
  • Must have/provide own fabrication tools (Welding Helmet, Measurement Devices, etc.)
  • Utilize handheld tools such as a handheld screw gun, drill, and grinders
  • Safely operate overhead crane
  • Operate calipers, weld gauges, tape measures, and other welding hand tools
  • Maintain weld machines using preventative maintenance methods
  • Continually evaluate weld machine performance and technology to improve cycle times
  • Create specific weldment set-ups and fixturing to meet geometric requirements
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure products meet quality standards
  • Properly clock in and out of each job processed via data collection hardware (Start time and stop time). Physically sign off on job routers once work has been completed for applicable work center.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment
  • May work at different workstations as production needs require.
  • Track individual and/or company (KPIs) / metrics. Strive for daily improvements

  • Assures compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, State, and local codes, OSHA regulations and requirements
Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to odor, noise, dust, heat, cold, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
  • Humidity level in factory may be elevated during summer months
Physical Demands
  • This position requires continual use of your hands, considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials
  • This position requires long periods of standing
  • The use of safety equipment such as safety glasses, steel toed shoes, gloves, face shields, filtered masks and hearing protection is utilized daily
  • This position requires lifting and maneuvering 50 lbs. without physical restrictions
  • This is a 40 hour per week job with occasional mandatory overtime
