Job summary

Footbridge Federal is seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer to support our defense and intelligence programs in Centreville, VA. The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance with a CI Polygraph and a deep knowledge of Layer 1–3 networking, VLANs, routing protocols, and network documentation.

You will resolve incidents, implement changes, upgrade software across Cisco, Juniper, and other platforms, and ensure secure, reliable connectivity.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with CI Polygraph is required.
• 10 years of combined professional experience and education (e.g., Bachelor's + 6 years or HS + 10 years).
• Strong understanding of Layer 1–3 networking concepts (VLANs, port security, subnetting, OSPF, BGP, MPLS).
• Proficiency with network documentation/tracking tools (Visio, ServiceNow, Confluence).
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Resolve network incidents and address service requests within SLAs.
• Prepare and execute standard network change requests and configuration updates.
• Maintain accurate network documentation (topology drawings, inventories, asset databases).
• Manage hardware replacement for routing/switching equipment.
• Perform software/firmware upgrades across Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, Foundry.
• Support physical layer connectivity and Layer 2/3 configurations.
• Assist with COMSEC duties as required by the site.

Job description

• Prepare and execute standard network change requests and configuration updates.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, including topology drawings, inventory records, and asset management databases.
• Manage hardware replacement processes for routing and switching equipment.
• Perform software and firmware upgrades across Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, and Foundry platforms.
• Support physical layer connectivity (fiber, copper, and serial cabling) as well as Layer 2 and Layer 3 configurations.
• Assist with communications security (COMSEC) duties as required by the site.
