Base pay range

$45,000.00/yr - $60,000.00/yr

Job Description Summary:

Tier 1 Desktop Support Technician is an entry-level position responsible for providing front-line technical support to end-users across the organization. You will be the first point of contact for technical issues related to computers, printers, email, networking, and software. You will also assist with IT onboarding, email phishing training, and asset inventory tracking. Will work closely with upper management and IT consultants on various projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-level technical support via phone, email, and in-person to resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
  • Perform password resets, account lockouts, in Active Directory.
  • Support users with Microsoft Office 365 Suite including SharePoint.
  • Assist with basic network troubleshooting, such as connectivity issues, IP conflicts, and VPN problems.
  • Handle new user onboarding, including account setup, workstation configuration, and user orientation.
  • Deliver email phishing and security awareness training during onboarding and periodically as needed.
  • Maintain and update IT asset inventory, including assigning and tracking devices such as laptops, monitors, and mobile devices.
  • Document all support interactions in the ticketing system, ensuring accurate issue tracking and resolution.
  • Escalate complex issues to Tier 2 support as necessary.
  • Assist with hardware deployments, routine maintenance tasks, and general IT operations support.
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service to all users.
  • Travel between local offices to provide technical support.
  • Be On-call or work extended hours may be required during system outages or special projects.

Skills / Requirements:

  • 1+ years of experience in an IT support/helpdesk role.
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 suite.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with asset tracking systems is a plus.
  • A+ or other relevant IT certifications preferred (Microsoft, etc.).

Working conditions

  • Comfortable working in a cold and loud environment as this job requires working in an office and occasionally in a plant setting environment. The position requires the physical ability to do work requiring stooping and bending, the physical strength to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, the physical ability to stand and sit for several hours, good visual acuity and ability to be on-call or work extended hours may be required during system outages or special projects.
