Job summary

The Salvation Army – Adult Rehabilitation Centers Command in Belton, MO is seeking a Store Sales Associate I to deliver friendly customer service in a fast-paced thrift store. You will assist donors, handle transactions, and help maintain an organized shopping environment.

This entry-level role offers flexible hours and opportunities to grow within a nonprofit mission that supports rehabilitation programs. Prior retail or cashiering experience is preferred, and the role requires lifting up to 50

Qualifications

• High school diploma or currently pursuing one.
• Retail, customer service, or cashiering experience preferred.
• Basic computer and cash-handling skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Must be able to lift/move up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to stand for extended periods in a store environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and represent The Salvation Army’s mission and values.
• Greet donors and shoppers and assist with transactions at the register.
• Operate the POS system and handle cash transactions accurately.
• Open, close, and balance cash drawers per TSA cash handling policies.
• Maintain a clean and organized store by restocking, straightening racks, and cleaning work areas.
• Ensure merchandise is displayed properly and replenished regularly.
• Follow all policies regarding the sale of donated goods.
• Work collaboratively with team members and store management.
• Support store productivity benchmarks and contribute to sales goals.
• Be available for flexible scheduling, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
