Job summary

Six Flags Great America & Hurricane Harbor is seeking Ride Operators to ensure guests have a fun and safe experience on our rides. You’ll join ride training, greet guests courteously, answer questions, and monitor safety and loading procedures.

This outdoor, fast-paced role requires stamina, teamwork, and clear English communication. You must be able to stand for long periods, work weekends and holidays, and respond calmly to emergencies while maintaining guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Minimum Age: 16.
• Flexible availability including weekends, weeknights, and holidays.
• Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to communicate effectively in English (read, speak and understand).
• Stand/walk for up to 5 hours at a time and up to 16 hours a day.
• Walk up to 5 miles per day over various surfaces.
• Capable of holding a handheld scanner for a minimum of 6 continuous hours.
• May be exposed to heights, spinning objects or moving water.
• Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Professional, self-motivated, multi-tasking, enthusiastic attitude.
• Strong teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Attend required training including Rides Department and iROC course.
• Adhere to Six Flags standards of appearance and attendance.
• Provide courteous greetings and answer guest questions; respond to guest comments.
• Ensure guest safety and satisfaction during the visit.
• Enforce rider restrictions and monitor height requirements.
• Assist with pairing single riders and manage load capacity.
• Take hourly throughput readings and monitor ride operations.
• Respond to emergencies and maintain control until supervision arrives.
• Monitor park policies and assist with downtime and evacuations if needed.
• Operate ride controls, watch for indicators, and stop the ride when necessary.
• Give public announcements as needed and perform test rides when assigned.
• Report unsafe acts to supervisors and maintain ride area cleanliness.
